The YMCA’s Greendale Family Branch Commences a Youth Innovation and Learning Development Hub Capital Project

Working with Timberline Construction’s Design-Build Team, the facility improvements will begin this spring

Worcester, MA – The YMCA of Central Massachusetts is pleased to announce the start of an exciting building renovation – a Youth Innovation and Learning Development Hub – at its Greendale Family Branch to further service Worcester County’s youth and teens. This 4,000 SF project will create a home for children up to age 18 featuring educational, recreational and social areas, featuring a STEAM space and a Teen Center for its members, childcare participants and summer campers.

Purposefully thought out and designed, the new Hub will provide several learning opportunities for children and staff, including a STEAM Lab, which will encourage the experience of trying new things in a collaborative space while gaining a sense of accomplishment. The Teen Center will house a tech bar, social space and enrichment area to develop confidence and a sense of pride as the community’s teens transition beyond childhood. A gross motor space will be a secure home for the youngest Y members, where they can take their first steps, learn how to play and make their first friends.

“We are beyond thrilled to have the support of our local community, which was among many donors instrumental in making this renovation happen,” said Christina Puleo, Senior Executive Director of the YMCA Greendale Family Branch. ”We are pleased to announce that Timberline Construction’s in-house architectural design and construction management teams will lead us through this design-build renovation scheduled for completion before the end of the year.”

Timberline’s team working on the project, the majority of which sit in their Worcester office, and leadership from the Greendale Family Branch, are thrilled to be a part of this exciting, forward-thinking improvement for the YMCA. “To be able to use our skill sets to help the entire community is what we enjoy doing,” said Tiffany Gallo, Vice President and Director of Project Development for Timberline. “The vision that has been set forth with this Youth Innovation and Learning Development Hub is impressive. Yesterday marked the project’s kick-off, during which the Y team thanked donors and continued to share the exciting upcoming facility improvements. They look forward to sharing updates as we move towards project completion.
