LAB RENOVATIONS IN OCCUPIED MEDICAL RESEARCH FACILITY

Combining the analysis of human cancer genomic databases with the genetic and imaging capacities of the zebrafish system, the Laboratory for Zebrafish Genetics is focused on the eradication of cancers, including t-lymphoblastic lymphoma/leukemia and breast cancer.

Timberline completely renovated 7,500 SF within an existing lab building to create this advanced medical research center comprising both lab and office space. The Zebrafish Genetics lab features new lab benches, a walk-in cold room, fume hoods, a new air-handling unit, eye-wash stations, and office space. The work involved installation of all a new air-handling unit in addition to support services ranging from de-ionized water, Quench water, and RO water systems to natural gas, vacuum system and lab waste treatment facility.

Built in a fully-functioning lab building meant extreme care had to be exercised to ensure no downtime to the building’s critical systems. In addition, the work needed to be performed without disruption to the numerous researchers in the busy building. Key to accomplishing this was regular communication on schedule updates so staff and researchers could plan accordingly.
