At the new Clarks Americas headquarters in Waltham, a 10-foot-high wall of shelving showcases an archive of every shoe the company has ever made. Technicians fashion shoe models in the Last Model Making Shop, which sends different-sized shoe patterns to a 3-D printer to make a physical model of the shoe. And the Cobbler Café warms up the building’s 400 employees with a gas fireplace.
Clarks Americas, a wholly owned subsidiary of footwear maker C&J Clark Ltd. of Somerset, England, officially relocated from Newton Upper Falls to its corporate headquarters at 60 Tower Road in Waltham on Thursday. The headquarters was built out in a former Polaroid property, bringing to life a shell building that had sat vacant on Route 128 for close to a decade.
